Hands-on - In the second part of the session, we focus on the phase of model development and jointly develop your first machine learning model in Python in the context of the Kaggle Competition “Titanic — Machine Learning from Disaster”.
- Model development workflow: We look at how to systematically develop a machine learning model in order to achieve the desired goal.
- Framing issue: We specify the problem that the machine learning model should solve and define how we want to evaluate the success of the developed model.
- Data Exploration: We analyse the available data in order to understand its special features and derive measures for pre-processing the data.
- Data modeling: We develop a pre-processing pipeline and a machine learning model, apply the model to test data and evaluate its performance.
- Model testing: We submit our model to the above-mentioned Kaggle Competition and evaluate its final performance under real conditions.
